  • 1 piece tomahawk steak Choose a thick cut for best results.
  • to taste Salt Use kosher or sea salt for better flavor.
  • to taste Black pepper Freshly cracked for maximum flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For searing the steak.
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves Optional, for added flavor.
  • 1 sprig Fresh rosemary Optional, enhances flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Remove the tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30-60 minutes.
  • Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over high heat.
  • Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  • If desired, add crushed garlic cloves and sprigs of fresh rosemary on top of the steak.

Cooking

  • Place the tomahawk steak on the grill or skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until a nice crust forms.
  • For medium-rare, cook until the internal temperature reaches 130-135°F (54-57°C), about 20-30 minutes, depending on thickness.
  • Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Serving

  • Slice across the grain to keep the meat tender.
  • Pair with sides like roasted potatoes, a green salad, or grilled vegetables.
  • Top with butter or a light herb sauce if extra richness is desired.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer for accurate doneness; don’t skip the rest time to retain juices. For additional flavor, marinades or rubs can be applied before cooking.
