Main Ingredients

  • 2 slices slices of bread Use your favorite type of bread.
  • 2 slices slices of cheese (e.g., cheddar or American) Cheddar and American melt well.
  • 1 cup smoked brisket, shredded Use cold shredded brisket for better results.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Use to butter the bread for grilling.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning according to preference.

Optional Ingredients

  • barbecue sauce For serving or adding inside the sandwich.
  • pickles For serving as a side.

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  • Layer the shredded smoked brisket on top of the bread.
  • Add the cheese slices on top of the brisket.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.

Cooking

  • Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Flip the sandwich and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove from skillet, slice, and serve with optional barbecue sauce or pickles.

Notes

Serve hot to keep the cheese melty. Wrap and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet for best texture.
