Main Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes, boiled and mashed Ensure they are well-drained and dry for a crispy texture.
  • 1/2 cup green peas, boiled
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped Adjust spice level as desired.
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped Use fresh for better flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or panko (optional) Use for coating if desired.
  • Oil for frying Use enough to cover the bottom of the pan.

For Green Chutney

  • cilantro Fresh is best.
  • 1-2 green chilies Adjust as per taste.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine mashed potatoes, green peas, green chilies, cilantro, cumin seeds, garam masala, salt, and turmeric. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small patties.
  • If using, coat the patties in breadcrumbs or panko.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes each side.

Making Green Chutney

  • Blend cilantro, green chilies, avocado (if using), lime juice, and salt until smooth.

Serving

  • Serve Potato Patties warm with the green chutney on the side.

Notes

Store leftover Potato Patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat them on a pan for a crispy texture. The green chutney can also be stored separately in a jar and kept in the fridge for about a week. You can add different vegetables like corn or spinach to the potato mixture for variety. Cheese can also be added to make them cheesy patties.
