  • 4 pieces Shallots Peel and cut in half if large.
  • 4 slices Bacon Cook until crispy.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Use medium heat to avoid burning.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil For sautéing shallots.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme Optional garnish.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Peel the shallots and cut them in half if they are large.
  • In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels.

Cooking

  • In the same skillet, add olive oil and shallots. Sauté for a few minutes until slightly caramelized.
  • Stir in honey, season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Transfer the shallots to a baking dish and crumble the crispy bacon on top.
  • Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the shallots are tender and golden.
  • Garnish with fresh thyme if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm as a side to meats or with eggs at breakfast. These shallots work well on toasted bread as a small bite. Cool to room temperature before storing, and place in an airtight container to refrigerate for up to 3 days.
