Ingredients
  

For the Beef Ribs

  • 3-4 lbs Beef ribs Pork ribs can be substituted for a lighter taste.
  • 1/2 cup Hoisin sauce Store-bought or homemade.

For the Arepas

  • 2 cups Arepa dough (cornmeal, water, salt) Mix to form a dough.

For the Slaw

  • 2 cups Cabbage (shredded) Thinly sliced.
  • 1 cup Carrots (shredded) Use fresh carrots.
  • 1/4 cup Green onions (chopped) For garnish.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce For the dressing.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil For the dressing.
  • 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar For the dressing.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.

Preparation of Beef Ribs

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Season the beef ribs with salt and pepper, then coat them with hoisin sauce.
  • Place the ribs in a baking dish and cover them with foil. Bake for 3-4 hours until tender.

Preparation of Arepas

  • Meanwhile, prepare the arepa dough by mixing cornmeal with water and salt, then form into patties.
  • Cook the arepas on a hot griddle until golden brown on both sides.

Preparation of Slaw

  • Thinly slice cabbage and carrots, and mix them in a bowl with chopped green onions.
  • In a separate bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, salt, and pepper to create a dressing.
  • Toss the vegetable mixture with the dressing.

Assembly and Serving

  • Once the beef ribs are done, assemble the dish by placing the beef on the arepas and topping with the Korean-inspired slaw.
  • Serve and enjoy hot and fresh!

Notes

Hoisin-Style Beef Ribs Arepas can be stored separately in airtight containers. Ribs can be refrigerated for up to 4 days. Arepas and slaw should be stored separately to maintain texture.
