  • 2 slices slices of bread
  • 2 slices slices of ham
  • 2 slices slices of cheese

Condiments and Extras

  • 1 tbsp butter Use room-temperature butter for easy spreading.
  • 1 leaf lettuce Dry lettuce slightly to prevent sogginess.
  • 1 slice tomato Pat dry to prevent sogginess.
  • to taste mustard or mayonnaise Spread on the inner side of the bread.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Layer the ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato on top.
  • Spread mustard or mayonnaise on the second slice of bread and place it on top, butter side up.

Cooking

  • Cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook until the other side is golden and cheese is melted.
  • Remove from heat, slice, and serve.

Notes

Serve hot or warm for the best taste. Add pickles or potato chips on the side for extra crunch. Store an uncut sandwich wrapped in foil in the fridge for up to 1 day. For reheating, use a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
