  • 2 pieces Eggs Use room temperature eggs to reduce cracking.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • optional Butter For spreading on toast.
  • 2 slices Toast For dipping.

Cooking

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil.
  • Gently add the eggs and boil for 5-7 minutes for soft-boiled dippy eggs.
  • Remove the eggs and place them in ice water to stop the cooking.
  • Once cooled, peel the eggs.
  • Serve the eggs in egg cups with the top chopped off, seasoned with salt and pepper, and with toast for dipping.

Notes

Store peeled soft-boiled eggs in the fridge for up to 2 days in an airtight container. Use within 48 hours for best texture. For added flavor, a pinch of smoked paprika can be added.
