  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Pastry ingredients

  • 1 sheet pie pastry Store-bought pastry is recommended.
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, add the minced beef and cook until browned.
  • Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 10 minutes.

Assembling the Pie

  • Roll out the pie pastry and place in a pie dish.
  • Fill the pastry with the meat mixture.
  • Cover with another sheet of pastry and seal the edges.
  • Cut a few slits in the top for steam to escape and brush with beaten egg.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Cool the pie before storing to keep texture. Store in an airtight container. Refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months; thaw in fridge before reheating. Reheat in oven for best crispness.
