Ingredients
  

For the Tofu

  • 1 block Block of firm tofu Use firm or extra-firm tofu for best results.
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch This will help create the crunchy coating.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For frying the tofu.

For the Spice Mix

  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper Adjust according to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

For Serving

  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce Drizzle over the crispy tofu.
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions Chopped, for garnish.

Preparation

  • Press the tofu to remove excess moisture and cut it into cubes.

Coating

  • Toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch, ensuring they are well coated.

Frying

  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Once hot, add the tofu and cook until golden and crispy on all sides.

Final Touches

  • In a bowl, mix chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  • Sprinkle the spice mix over the crispy tofu and toss to coat evenly.
  • Drizzle with soy sauce and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Serve hot for the best crunch. You can top rice, noodles, or salad with the tofu. Additionally, place it in a sandwich with crunchy vegetables for a textural delight. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
