  • 1 pound large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (125 g)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup hot honey (170 g)
  • Parsley for garnish chopped

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 15 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil to 350°F in a large pot.
  • Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture and fry until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  • Drain on a lined baking sheet, drizzle with hot honey, and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Serve hot to maintain the crispiness of the crust. Offer lemon wedges or a simple slaw on the side for balance.
