Ingredients
  

For the Batter

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup cold water Use cold water for a light and crispy batter.
  • to taste Vegetable oil for frying Use a neutral oil with a high smoke point.

For the Honey Glaze

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

For Garnish

  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually add cold water to make a batter.
  • Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Dip shrimp into the batter and carefully place in hot oil. Fry until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Making the Glaze

  • In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic; bring to a simmer.
  • Toss the fried shrimp in the honey glaze until well-coated.

Serving

  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
  • Serve hot with lemon wedges and dipping sauces like extra soy sauce or mild chili sauce.

Notes

Store cooled shrimp in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes to keep the coating crisp. Avoid using the microwave.
