Ingredients
  

Tofu Preparation

  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes Press the tofu well to remove water for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Toss the tofu in cornstarch right before baking for best crunch.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For sautéing garlic and ginger.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Watch not to burn while sautéing.
  • 1 inch ginger, grated Use high heat but be careful not to burn.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce Adjust to taste for spice level.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Garnish

  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped For garnish.
  • to taste sesame seeds For garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Toss tofu cubes in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  • Bake on a lined baking sheet for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.

Sauce Preparation

  • In a pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat; add garlic and ginger, and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add soy sauce, chili sauce, and sesame oil to the pan and stir well.

Combining

  • Toss the crispy tofu in the sauce until well coated.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Serve this dish over steamed rice or noodles for a full meal. It can also be placed on greens or served in a bowl with vegetables for a balanced dish. Cool leftovers before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat to keep tofu crisp.
