  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can swap for pepper jack for heat.
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese Soften before mixing for easier incorporation.
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 slices bread Use sourdough or rye for more flavor.
  • Butter for grilling Butter the bread well for a crispy texture.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Spread the crab mixture evenly on two slices of bread, then top with the remaining slices.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt some butter.
  • Place the sandwiches in the skillet and grill until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove from skillet, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm to keep the cheese gooey. Pairs well with a simple salad or soup. Leftover filling can be stored in the fridge for 2 days.
