Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes Sliced thinly
  • 2 medium Onions Caramelized
  • 6 slices Bacon Cooked until crispy
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese Grated
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For greasing the baking dish
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy, then remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, caramelize the onions until golden brown.
  • Slice the potatoes thinly and layer half of them in a greased baking dish.

Layering

  • Sprinkle half of the caramelized onions and half of the crumbled bacon over the potatoes.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, onions, and bacon.

Final Assembly and Baking

  • In a separate bowl, mix heavy cream with salt and pepper, then pour over the layered potatoes.
  • Top with grated gruyère cheese.
  • Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Slice potatoes evenly so they cook at the same rate. Don’t rush the onions — low heat makes them sweet and soft. Use a sharp grater for the gruyère so it melts well.
