  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly Slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Adjust to taste if desired.
  • 1/4 cup mirin Can substitute with rice wine and sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For frying.
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish) For serving.
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) Optional topping.
  • Steamed rice (for serving) As a base.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, ginger, and garlic to create the teriyaki sauce.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef slices and cook until browned.
  • Pour the teriyaki sauce over the beef and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Serving

  • Serve the beef teriyaki hot over steamed rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Cool the beef to room temperature before storing. Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave.
