Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 12 slices pre-packaged deli ham, divided
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese, divided (113 g)

Breading Ingredients

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (31 g)
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 large eggs, room temp
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs (108 g)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (56 g)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp garlic, minced

Swiss Cheese Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick / 113 g)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (62.5 g)
  • 3 cups whole milk, warmed (735 g)
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (113 g)
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (56.5 g)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Parsley, for garnish

Instructions
 

Chicken Prep

  • Pat chicken dry and butterfly each breast without cutting through.
  • Place between plastic wrap and pound to even 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Lay one breast per wrap, top with ham and 1/4 cup cheese each.
  • Roll tightly, tuck sides in, seal in plastic wrap, chill for 30 minutes.

Breading

  • Mix flour, salt, pepper, and cayenne on a shallow plate.
  • Whisk eggs and water on a second plate.
  • Combine breadcrumbs, melted butter, salt, and garlic on a third plate.
  • Dredge each roll in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mix.

Air Frying

  • Work in batches, spray rolls lightly with oil, do not overcrowd.
  • Air fry at 375°F for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Let rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Cheese Sauce

  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add flour, whisk for 1-2 minutes until light brown.
  • Remove from heat, slowly add warm milk while whisking.
  • Return to heat and whisk for 3-5 minutes until thick.
  • Stir in salt and garlic powder, remove from heat.
  • Add Swiss and mozzarella, stir until melted.
  • Pour sauce over cooked chicken and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Store in fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes or air fry at 350°F for 5-8 minutes.
